• Consistently be present when listed on rotating schedule to serve.
• Assist at all services and meetings when required.

• Serve - Consistently be present when listed on rotating schedule to serve.
• Assist at all services and meetings when required.
• Money - Responsible for weekly collection of tithes & offerings and assures that funds are handled securely.
• Attendance - Counts weekly attendance for worship service and posts number in church office.
• Visitation - Visits members as appropriate.
• Baptism - Assists with preparation for baptismal service.
• Cares for the sick and the poor.
• Church Maintenance - Provides assistance with the care and maintenance of the church property.
• Ordinance of Humility - Assures that all preparations are made for Ordinance of Humility and assists with clean-up after the service is over.
• Holy Communion Service - Assists with Communion Service and clean-up afterwards.
• Fellowship Lunch - Assists with fellowship meals as needed, assures tables & chairs are in place for meal and afterward that tables and chairs are taken down and properly stored.
• Trash – After fellowship meal, assures that trash in gym and kitchen are taken to the dumpsters.
  • NOTE: Gulf States Conference provides free weekend training session at Camp Alamisco for all Deacons and Elders the first weekend of December and Deacons are encouraged to attend.

In addition to duties listed for deacon,

• Schedule - Creates and distributes rotating schedule for deacons to serve.
• Baptism – Assures baptistry is ready for service and assists as needed.
• Ordinance of Humility and Holy Communion - Coordinates deacons to serve for Ordinance of Humility and Communion.
• Deacons Meeting - May schedule quarterly meeting/training for deacons.
• Facility Maintenance - Responsible for scheduling workday at the church for facility maintenance as needed.

• Weekly Service - Assists at services and meetings as necessary.
• Visitation – Visits members as appropriate.
• Baptisms - Assists with preparation for Baptismal Services and assures that linens are cleaned after service.
• Cares for the sick and the poor.
• Ordinance of Humility - Assures that all preparations are made for Ordinance of Humility and for clean-up after the service.
• Holy Communion Service - Preparations for Communion Service [preparing bread and wine, arranging the ordinance table, pouring the wine, placing the plates of unleavened bread, covering the table with linen].
• Fellowship Lunch - Assists with fellowship meals by set-up, decorating, handling of food, clean-up afterwards, and laundering of linens as needed.
• Bridal/Wedding/Baby Shower – Assists with bridal/wedding and baby showers as needed/requested.

In addition to duties listed for deaconess:

• Communion - Responsible to assure that communion bread is prepared, and that juice is purchased for communion service. *
  • Linens - Assures that all linens used for Communion and Ordinances of Humility are laundered and stored properly.
  • Deaconess Serving - Selects Deaconesses to serve for Communion and Ordinances of Humility.
• Baptism – Assists with baptismal service as needed.
  • Gift - Purchases gift for baptismal candidates. *
• Schedule - May publish rotating schedule for deaconesses to serve by month (fellowship meal).
• Decorating - Purchases table coverings and decorations as needed. *
• Bridal/Wedding/Baby Shower - Coordinates bridal/wedding and baby showers as needed with the deaconesses/Social Committee.*
• Assures that kitchen supplies are fully stocked* (plates, cups, bowls, fork/knives/spoons, dessert plates, & kitchen supplies).
• Clean-up - After fellowship meal assures that kitchen and gym (or multipurpose room) areas are left clean and orderly.
  • Mother’s Room Linens - Makes sure that linens on baby changing tables/beds are kept clean. (May purchase diapers and baby wipes. *
